Hum I can't seem to find a guide on how to update an already configured server. Primarily I want to keep my accounts and characters if at all possible. Anyone know how or know of a guide?

Just export your auth and character database to your desktop ( Export guide : http://www.heidisql.com/help.php )
What do you mean by update? like go from Emucoach Repack V 4 to V 5.1 ?

Yep. I'm on an old release, I think V2, atm and I wish to take the leap to V4.

Edit: I've also added custom items, I'm assuming I will need to save those in one manner or another as well?

Okay, if you're on v2 just export your auth and characters databases and import them to your new v4 database.
I dont know much about custom items, but i think they're located in your world database

I have a question.
Me and y friends using since longer time cata repack (old version). The problem is, one of them can't play on the own pc, because it is an apple

Do you know where I can find an starter app or something? or are you eventually planning on creating one? I just have one for WotLK, but I alone can't configure it, I am all new in this stuff.

I've head something about an app for apple which allows you to convert .exe files to .app
