I couldn't tell you the actual answer, but my guess is they're compressed, like you said.
From what I've experienced, neither of these are viruses, if that's what you're worried about with the extra 9gb.

Is that after you've played in game and it finished all downloading? The full client might still be missing things.

I was just wondering if anything was missing or ripped out of the smaller client. I did indeed download the full client also, the hard way with in game downloading and yeah it came out to about 23gb when all was said and done. No big deal, thanks for the response though!

We generally don't need to use extractors because it's already done for us. The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself.
