So I have a lot of experience with DBC editing, but specifically 3.3.5a and previous, I've never edited anything past that, because I never cared for anything after WoTLK, however I do find myself wanting to try and edit 5.4.8 DBC Files. And try as I might I cannot find a 5.4.8 core ready-to-compile, but I can find repacks, the problem with that is I've been told in order to edit 5.4.8 DBC files, I need a 5.4.8 core and to compile it myself, which ofc would be fine IF I could find a 5.4.8 core.

I found the repack on this site but upon opening the dbc in WDBX editor, I find myself flabberghasted and stuck at it, the DBC itself is completely different and I think I now understand why I need a core, so unless I'm doing this wrong, could someone possibly provide a way for me to gain a 5.4.8 core? Or perhaps guide me in the right direction and tell me what I'm doing wrong on the DBC files?

Unfortunately a lot of the programs that are built for editing DBCs are meant specifically for 3.3.5 unless specifically stated. The dbc structures have changed dramatically between 3.3.5 and 5.4.8 with the addition of db2 files. The presence of a 5.4.8 core would not provide you with any additional functionality that you are searching for, since the dbc's will be the same. You can search up any uploaded github source for 5.4.8 to get the structure of the dbc files, but that's about the only benefit that a core would provide you.

Here would be an example of using a source to get information on server functionality :
