Hi! :)

Currently I keep 1 PC as the "always on" and using Hamachi on it as a server at home while the rest of us login in from elsewhere to it. It's worked so far except one problem: Hamachi only allows 5 free connections and we can't run 10 man raids. Ha ha ha... Evolve seems good but they are in the red (financially) for most of the time and I have zero experience with them. Just concern about setting up something that I ain't sure will last or not. Exploring alternatives. Explore with me? :D

I'm just wondering if there are better alternatives to Evolve or Hamachi? Would it be possible to use Teamviewer VPN to somehow setup a private server for friends to join in? Sorry am slightly new to networking (I admit, I wasn't paying attention in class) and a google search of this topic turns up more topics on people playing wow on their teamviewer than using teamviewer as a VPN to the private server I set up on my home PC.

Thanks!

Port forwarding is the best option, im my opinion. Another option is something called no-ip. I've used both methods, and have had no complaints from either. Port forwarding is the easiest, since you don't have to rely on a program for it. No-ip is good because it can give you something to use instead of your ip, so you (i think) don't have to port-forward, and your friend, or whoever joins, wont be able to see your IP.

Edit: I've never heard of using teamviewer for something like this, so I'm not sure if that's possible. However, I haven't even looked at teamviewer for over 3 or 4 years now, but still. I don't really think that's a good option, but then again, I know nothing about it so I can't really say.
