How to repopulate characters after server goes down

Our Emu server mysteriously crashed and all data was gone. Can we repopulate our characters after we build new server with files stored locally on our private computers?

The clients do not hold the data that would be in the auth and character tables in the server's database. The client side just has addon and macro type information for each character.
By server crash do you mean just the game server applications (Auth, World and MySQL) or the PC hardware/OS crashed?

You may be able to recover the data if the hard drive itself is not toast. If the drive is ok you may be able to drop it in another PC to gain access to the _Server folder and copy it to another PC and then either copy the release folder or just download it again and get things back that way.

That's bad news. On our server we do daily backups using heidisql. I export the auth char and emucoach world databases by right clicking and export as sql. And then that backup folder is copied to a second computer for safekeeping. I also check the drop create check boxes before exporting, Just in case i have to recreate those databases due to some hardware failure.
There are .bat files on the internet that will do this for you as well. Or cron jobs for linux.
These backups can use up a lot of space after a few months, So you have to clean them up every now and then.
