In a previous post I made (here) I thought of an idea for EmuCoach to have a fantasy/rpg/something similar game that can be played on the website. So basically, someone would come to the site, and click a tab on the top of the forums called whatever the game's name is, and they would be taken to it to play it.
Either that, or it would be downloaded, and hopefully online for obvious reasons of connecting with the community.
I feel like this could help people stay on the site, as they could have a fun little game to compete with other members of the community.
I believe something like this can be done in Java, and I feel that I know enough of the language to start work on it now. Once I finish this summer semester, I should know how to write GUI's in Java, which is when I could finish work on it.
This is kind of a suggestion, while also coding discussion, along with general discussion because I want to know what other people think.
What do you guys think of this idea? Especially ExO, since I'd like this to be an official game of EmuCoach.
I would love to work on this, and hope that other people would aswell. Is anyone up for it? It'd probably start out real simple, and I'd probably end up doing most of the early work (I say that now, but once I start it I'll probably learn how hard it'd actually be). I know that I'd need help later on, especially with making it online, and possibly having it hosted on an HTML webpage.
I'd probably release the game as open source as well, since I don't really see why other people shouldn't have access to it (that is, if the game doesn't suck).
I'm not a professional in Java, and the help I need might not entirely be in Java, so anyone that could contribute to this, I'd greatly appreciate your help.
I want to remind anyone who does want to join in though, that I am in no way a professional when it comes to this stuff. I'm new to Java, and I haven't even started learning other stuff yet. Also, if you think this project can't be done until I learn more (which is quite possible), then that's no problem, as I don't mind working on this for a long time.
Features of the game (for now):
What do you guys think? And, would anyone else be interested?
EDIT: I'm trying to get my friend on board. He's at a different college for a specific degree in Game Design, so he might be able to help as well.
EDIT 2: Turns out, I've got 2 friends that can help; the friend I referred to in the first edit can help with sprites, while the 2nd friend can help with Java or coding ideas/advice, although he most likely knows less than I do, but he goes to a different college so he might have different techniques, etc.
EDIT 3: Added a few more suggestions. I'd also like to point out that this would be more of a click-based game. Something similar to the old 'Adventure Quest' game. I hope that's considered a 2d game, and that I didn't get the title wrong :/ But it'd be that way, at least to start out, and then it would turn into an actual 2d game that you can move around with using the arrow keys.

Features of the game (for now):
- Some form of combat between the player and some random monsters in different locations
- Different locations to travel to for different things
- Shops
- To go with the shops, that would include some kind of online market, for people to sell their items to other players
- Dueling between players (if the player is offline, then it would be something similar to an automated bot)
- Forts (Similar to garrisons in World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor) - meaning people can raid other forts, and you can make your fort stronger.
- If possible, rewards in the game for things achieved on the site
- If the above is possible, then I'd like to link the accounts on the game with the accounts on the website, so to play the game, you'd have to register an account on the forums, and you can earn rewards by posting, recieving X amount of rep, etc
- Some kind of farming (more so inside the forts) that lets you farm food, ingredients, sellable items, etc
- Potion making that can be used in battle to give the player either health, stamina, a special attack, etc
- Something that should've been obvious from the start: Quests. The player could kill a certain amount of mobs, get an item from a mob, etc.
