Hey guys! Need some help with connecting to my server on my own personal LAN. I have looked up all the tutorials that I could on youtube and various websites but unable to connect to my server from another computer on my network.

My setup. I have my server set up on computer #1 and trying to connect to it on computer #2. I have edited my realmlist to point to the server on computer #1 and the config file in the WTF folder in the client folder. Used Navicat and Heidisql to go into the auth/realmlist and change the address to match my ip of the computer running the server. I couldn't go to windows/system32/etc and change the host file as some tutorials told me to do. (Wouldn't let me edit and save.)

I start the game up and log in with the account info I created on the server and it shows my server in the realm list but when I try to connect it just says 'logging into game server' then the window goes away and I am back to trying to connect.

I feel like I am sooo close since I can start up the game on one computer and it connects to the realmlist on the other computer but it just wont log into the game server. Maybe this is a port forwarding / open issue. I just wanna know if I am on the right track.

Sorry for this question but I have tried to put bits and pieces together from all the videos and forum posts I have read but nothing seems to work or I cant do a certain step as explained. Not trying to make my server public but just keep it in my LAN from 1 computer to the other.

Thanks in advance!

I am using the X-Treme Mist repack posted by Ayiko. Trinity core server I do believe. I can get it to work by running the server and client all on one computer but would like to put the server on 1 computer and run the client off another. I tried to follow the steps using Hamachi and the other tutorials but there is always some step that doesn't match up or I cant do it. Like changing the etc/hosts file. I cant edit it and save. It wants me to create a new file and save it as a text. Just little things are missing even from other posts/video tutorials that I cant do to follow along with the steps. Someone posted a nice tutorial to set up a ACemu 3.3.5a server on a LAN but most of the steps didn't pertain to the Trinity server I am using.

I can get all the way to the point of seeing the server on the realmlist running off the other computer but it just won't log me into the game server. I didn't go into the worldserver config and edit anything in there. Is that where the game is suppose to log me in? There are a few lines there that suggest ip address which are set to 127.0.0.1 by default:

LoginDatabaseInfo
WorldDatabaseInfo
CharacterDatabaseInfo

I think I tried to change those before and ended up not even being able to run the auth or worldserver after starting MySQL.

Thanks in advance!

Holy crap I figured it out. Not 100% sure what I did but I looked up how to edit the system32/driver/etc/hosts file and added in the line I was suppose to. Then I went into the worldserver config file and edited the bind ip setting which was at 0.0.0.0 to my ip address for the computer that was hosting the server and logged in with the account I created and it worked! Game is running on Computer #1 and server is running on computer #2!

That's awesome! Congrats on solving the issue - always better when solving it yourself to learn more =)
