I am currently experiencing hanging from worldserver.exe, being stuck on 'initializing data stores'. I saw other threads concerning this but it seems that the issue -and resolution- is different for everyone. After finally getting it to work for a short period of time, it suddenly started hanging on the 'data stores' part again. Occasionally it gets past the data stores part, only to hard crash at another, totally random part in the loading process.
After many headaches, I tried downloading everything from the new release from scratch (server, release, vmaps, etc...). Even after starting up a fresh install with no tampering involved, I am still plagued by the same goddamn 'data store' hang. Is anyone else seeing this issue? What causes this, how can it be resolved, and will it be fixed in the next release?
tl;dr-repack was working and then it stopped, even new installs are broken
EDIT: As I mentioned before, multiple people have multiple issues with this. My issue was fixed by running worldserver in compatibility mode for windows XP service pack 3 (running off my win 7 partition atm). I'll leave this thread up for documentation purposes... maybe it will help someone else out. I hope that this solution presents a stable fix for subsequent restarts. I'll edit this post again if I see anything wrong.
